RETURN OF THE KERNEWEK
FILMS
Kernewek means 'Cornish' in Cornish. Kernewek was officially considered a dead language for about 200 years, but the 20th century has seen it come back in surprising force.
Unfortunately, we were due to film the bulk of the short documentary last May, but as Covid-19 struck, we had no option but to postpone indefinitely.
Here's a teaser we made with Cornish band Hanterhir and radio presenter Matthew Clark. The final film will be a series of weaving vignettes which take us through the underestimated modern revival of the Cornish language.
